The Deep Ruptures
The third age, c. 380,000-c. 300,000 BR, of the Roothollow Rupture, the sealing of the deep world, and the Elf-Dwarf enmity. See The Ages of Caeldon.
The age of the first catastrophes. Failed Mending becomes heritable among Trolls, the Dwarves dig deeper into Stonewake, and the first Beyonder Incursion sets a far-side valley into crystal. Then the Roothollows drown: the Drowning Bloom floods the root-caverns of the upper underworld, rescue comes too late or not at all, the ruined upper caverns are sealed with their dead inside, and the survivors harden into the Dark Elves. Dark Elves and Dwarves then fight over the Rootstone Heartwell, and the grudges of that war still poison every meeting of Elves and Dwarves.
