Sheafmeet
Largest march-town, where the Sheaf Road meets two joining rivers; granary, mills, oath-house of the Accord, and record-house; the nearest thing to a centre in a region no one rules.
A walled march-town where the Sheaf Road meets two joining rivers, with a long bridge, three mills, a granary larger than some villages, the valley's greatest oath-house of the Accord, and a record-house whose scribes keep second copies for half the valleys around. Its walls have been stormed twice in song and once in living memory, when a lord's warband and its hired swords came over the river gate at night; the breach-stones are still black, and the town's children dare each other to touch them after dark. Ten thousand or more people live inside and below the walls, and at harvest the carts, levy-reckoners, and barges double that. Reedfolk pilots of the Floodkeeper Houses take its grain boats down towards the Serath.
