Ninefloods
Reedfolk stilt and reed-island settlement in the Reedmere around a crossing shrine; pilots for the Reedmere.
A Reedfolk stilt settlement in the Reedmere: a few dozen households on stilts and reed islands, joined by boats, around a crossing shrine where the house's flood roll is spoken aloud each year. They fish, cut reed, and hire out as pilots, since no sensible boat crosses the Reedmere without one; boats that tried have been found weeks later in the reed, empty, and the Reedfolk will not say what lives in the deep channels.
