Barleystep
Dwarven terrace farms in a sheltered valley below a hold.
A cluster of four Dwarven farmsteads on the terraces of a sheltered valley below a hold, growing barley and roots and driving herds to summer pasture. Everything it grows goes up to the gate it belongs to, and a poor year here is felt a long way down. Its herders keep spears for the stone cats and hire a beast-hunter when one starts taking calves.
