Notchfield
High valley village ploughing colossal terraces; reads the Weatherline for weather and faces the Stormcrown.
A high valley village of some thirty households ploughing colossal terraces whose retaining walls no living people could raise. They grow barley and oats, send sheep up to the summer slopes, and watch the notches of the Weatherline on the heights for the weather, since cloud over them means the high roads will close before night. Its young men and women hire into the holds for a season and keep the taboo on the deepest seams when they do.
