Saltcut
Salt cutters' stronghold on the edge of the Long Pan.
A small stronghold on the edge of the Long Pan, home to salt cutters who work the crust in the cooler months and to the well-keepers of its one shallow well. A few dozen households live there; the salt goes out by escort to the Folds and the routes beyond. The crust out on the pan has swallowed whole salt-trains, and its cutters say that on still nights the drowned animals can be heard far out on the white. The crust once took a raiding band that chased a salt-train onto it, and Saltcut children still dig at the edge for its loot.
