Gapmouth

The passward shelter at the mouth of the Whetgap: stone-walled refuges, store-chambers, and a catch-pool, kept stocked by whoever holds the route. Ogre camps carry its stores up before the windy season, and once the pass closes it fills with parties waiting it out, sometimes several hundred at a time, all eating from the same declared stores. Its walls have held against raiders twice in living memory, and the second time the parties sheltering inside held them; the raiding captain's spear still hangs over the inner door.
