Overview

The Keeper of the Unbroken Sequence is the Steward of Aion Prime charged with keeping events in their true order. It does not govern every second or every calendar; it governs the deeper principle that before must remain before, after must remain after, and consequence must follow act.

Without this Steward, the cosmos would still contain time, but time would begin to fray. Causes might detach from effects. Histories might contradict themselves. A wound might appear before the sword is drawn. A city might remember its sack before the raiders come.

The Keeper exists to prevent such ruptures. It is not the steward of clocks. It is the steward of the reality that events must unfold in an intelligible sequence if existence is to remain coherent.

Appearance and Presence

The Keeper appears as a tall figure wrapped in translucent veils of moving chronology. At a glance, one sees multiple positions of its body at once, each a fraction of a second apart, so that it seems to step through its own future and past simultaneously.

• Visuals: Its face is obscured by a mask of polished glass etched with concentric spirals. Beneath the surface, faint scenes flicker and vanish.
• The Atmosphere: Nearby, sound arrives with unnatural precision. Falling dust lands in perfect rhythm. Nothing stutters, glitches, or misaligns.
• The Voice: Its speech comes in exact cadence, every word landing with a sense of inevitability, as though it had already been spoken and is merely arriving on time.

Office and Mandate

The Keeper's office is cosmic rather than local.

• It prevents paradox from becoming stable.
• It seals minor fractures in sequence before they widen into temporal wounds.
• It ensures that rituals, prophecies, and acts of reversal still carry cost rather than unravelling cause and consequence.

The Keeper does not forbid all temporal manipulation. Aion's law allows slowing, acceleration, and even limited reversal under strict cost. What the Keeper forbids is contradiction without price.

• The Thread of Causation: It can perceive the chain of cause and effect linking a moment to what preceded and follows it.
• Sequence Restoration: It can force a broken event back into its proper order, though this often damages anything that tried to stand outside causality.
• Paradox Suppression: It can contain contradictory timelines in a sealed interval until Aion's own current can absorb the damage.
• Time's Eye: It can declare which version of an event is cosmically valid when conflicting histories collide.

• With Aion Prime: The Keeper is one of Aion's most indispensable offices, expressing the Prime's demand that change must still flow unbroken.
• With Memoria Prime: It works closely with memory, because history cannot be remembered if it has no fixed sequence.
• With Lux Prime: It tolerates branching possibility, but only so long as possibility resolves into ordered actuality.
• With the Fractured Mirror: The Keeper is a direct enemy of any force that seeks to multiply contradiction into permanent reality.

Role in the Cosmology

The Keeper ensures that existence remains a narrative rather than a shattered heap of simultaneous impossibilities. It is one of the hidden supports beneath all memory, prophecy, consequence, and identity.

If it were silenced, reality would not stop. It would become unreadable, and every war would be fought and lost and won at once.
